List building is one of the most important things you can do with your niche business. It’s important to collect the name and email address of your website visitors. It gives you the opportunity to build a relationship with your prospects and encourage them to invest in your products, or the products you recommend.

Let me use an example I’ve read about before.

You can’t just go up to a woman in a night club and ask her to sleep with you. First, you need to build a relationship with her, then if you’re lucky… ;)

It’s the same when selling online. You could just send prospects directly to your salespage where you have one opportunity to sell to them, or you could encourage them to subscribe where you can build a relationship of trust and then continually promote your products to them.

This article will outline a quick, step-by-step system for building niche subscriber lists on auto-pilot.

Step #1
Incentive

The first thing you need before anything is an incentive to encourage website visitors to subscribe. This incentive could be anything, such as: a free report, newsletter, audio, video etc.

It should be specific to the content of your site. So, if your site is on ‘natural health’, then the incentive should not be about ‘making money’.

Step #2
Squeeze Page

A squeeze page is simply a page on your website with the sole intention of obtaining the name and email address of your visitors. On your squeeze page you could include a headline, benefits, a video and testimonials. Try to keep your opt-in form above the fold (so the visitor doesn’t have to scroll down to see it).

Step #3
Traffic

Everything’s set up to receive subscribers now, it’s just a case of getting the traffic – targetted traffic!

Here’s a few methods:

Article marketing – write interesting, informative, niche specific articles and publish them on the major article directories, such as EzineArticles.com. Link back to your squeeze page from your resource box. Maximise your article marketing by contacting authority sites within your niche and requesting that they publish your articles.

Forum marketing – go to the busiest forums within your niche and participate in the discussions. Link to your squeeze page through your sig file.

Back links – these contribute massively to your search engine ranking. A lot of your traffic should be coming from the search engines. A good way to hit the top of the search engines is to get a lot of links pointing back to your website. You can do this by reciprocally linking with other sites, leaving blog comments and paying for text links.

Joint ventures – team up with other leading figures in your niche and JV with them. You send an email to your subscribers encouraging them to sign up for your partners list, and he does the same for you. The bigger your list, the bigger the list you can partner with and the quicker you can grow your own list. The growth of your subscriber base will be exponential.

That’s it really. Follow those three steps and eventually you will have your own subscriber base that you can profit from for many years to come.

IMPORTANT: Remember the size of the list is not as important as the relationship you have with them. Don’t focus solely on building numbers, also focus on building relationships.
