Network Marketing on the internet has flourished as people have figured out how to use the leverage of the internet to conduct list building campaigns and grow large, targeted prospect lists to market to. Conversely, the many people who continue to fail to generate profits in the network marketing industry mainly fail because they don’t learn how to effectively build their own list to market to.

1. Do NOT ignore your offline market place. Let’s face it, it’s not 2005 anymore. Back in 2005 there was no track record or base to compare and contrast the advice of internet marketing “gurus” so whatever they claimed “worked” was assumed by new marketers. New people flocked to the sexy online marketing “secrets” and they bought it all hook, line and sinker. In 2010 people have seen that all those “automated” tactics and systems simply weren’t so “automated” and it takes real marketing skill to get the job done.
So be sure to mix in some offline list building strategies like post cards, booklets, CDs etc. Let people receive something where they live (not online) in their HOMES that they can touch and feel and take to work. Extend the sales process and let your prospects experience your whole ENVIRONMENT. This allows them to inject their imagination into the process and they imagine having ownership of your system and how they can benefit from it.
2. Persistence is a key to good list building. So many new marketers “try” something and then quit. Do NOT assume or expect that your “list building” adverts should be generating sales. Getting sales from your ads is not their job. The job of your ads is simply to generate opt ins. Do not quit your campaigns early. Instead, post your ads as tests, then analyze your results, tweak and run again against your control.
3. Social networking as a list builder. Use your time on facebook effectively by actively participating in conversations and asking questions, networking and BEING there. Then tactfully “seed the field” with helpful tips, invites to free training and posting helpful information that teaches, inspires, motivates, uplifts and adds increase into people. People love recognition, so give it to them. People also intuitively like people who they see loving other people.
4. Use social networking to “warm up” your cold marketing generated leads. The whole purpose of cold marketing is to EXPAND your warm market, NOT to get away from it. One of the most effective ways to use the power of Facebook, YouTube and other social networking sites is to continue to generate cold leads from your advertising, but then invite your cold leads to “get to know you” on your YouTube
or Facebook page.
This is a very effective way to “meet in a neutral place” as people have become more and more skeptical of the personal website you might send them to. Everyone looks like a “rock star” on their own website, of course, but on Facebook and YouTube, they can actually see family, friends and business contacts edifying and networking with you in a positive light and that helps establish a level of trust that can lend to your other marketing pieces being received with a more open mind.
5. Contact your prospects. It is not 2006 any more and that means that the truth about “automated” systems is out. They don’t work. You can not, and should not, attempt to “take the human element” out of any marketing process. This is still the NETWORK MARKETING arena and the whole point is to serve people.
Call your prospects and let them know you’re there to help and serve them. Invite them to free information. Interview them and see what their goals are. SERVE and share your environment and community and information with them. As more “gurus” fraudulently teach people NOT to answer their phones and to attempt to get rich without communicating with people, do the opposite and be the “only person” actually replying to calls and establishing real relationships.
Human Nature has fundamental principles that should never be ignored. Optimize your business by marketing INTO people’s human nature, not against it. People crave and expect and deserve real service; deliver it. This will allow you to rise head and shoulders above the “mis-informed” who ignore the very prospects and markets they seek to market into.
